** A2's death in Ending C is the most peaceful of any main character in any story branch. After commenting on how beautiful the world she had just saved is, she simply leans back and utters "Everyone, here I come" (Japanese: "''Minna, ima ikuyo''"). While 2B's death to the virus and 9S's in Ending D are full of pain and regrets, A2's is serene, because she is finally allowing herself to join her friends in death ''after 200 years'' of living alone. To A2, death is not a loss, but finally coming home.

** Early in A2's part of Route C/D/E, you're asked by a bunch of young children machines to make a place for them to play in. A2, of course, grumbles about why she should help them in the first place...but does it anyway and gets the gratitude of the kids in return. D'aww. Pascal even thanks you for helping the kids. Keep in mind this is the machine-hating bastard who stabbed the Forest King without any single word.

No meta moment, see this query.

** Meta: 2B and 9S's actual voice actors, Creator/KiraBuckland and Creator/KyleMcCarley [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRhREyaKy_U playing through Ending E together]].
** Another meta one. There are stories of people reaching out to those who sacrificed their save files, thanking them.
** WordOfGod states that this particular ending was inspired by this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ts_4vOUDImE Coca-Cola ad]] as detailed by this [[https://www.pcgamer.com/yoko-taro-explains-how-a-coca-cola-ad-inspired-nier-automata/ interview.]]

** Emil is also the source of a meta heartwarming moment. Automata's world is set after Ending D of the original Nier, where Nier sacrifices his entire existence for Kainé's sake, such that nobody would remember him. But despite that, Emil clearly does remember him, such as the end of Emil's Memories, where he talks about the original Emil spending time at Kainé's house with ''people'' he loved, or the end of Emil's Determination, where he tells the Emil clones that "This is the world my friend tried to save".

* A meta one: Yoko Taro ''did it.'' He finally made a game which received wide mainstream success, and good advertising. He did not fail to Atlus's new game as per [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhWGuV6mcE4&t=127s this video]].
** Also: this game did so well that it ''saved [=PlatinumGames=]''. After the cancellation of ''Scalebound'', Platinum had been left with one less major project to work on, and one less major source of funding. Yoko Taro and his pitch for a cult-hit's sequel were the spark that turned things around for the action-game developer. The fact that many people at Platinum were also fans of the original ''VideoGame/{{Nier}}'' just makes their chance to improve upon it that much sweeter.
** And then, after all that, a remake of the original Nier was made and released, featuring new content and overhauled combat. It’s safe to say Yoko Taro has finally gotten the success he deserved.

* While the segment is mostly played as TearJerker, after A2 hears Pascal's call for help she completely drops all pretense of hostility with the village. Desperately trying to save the machines there and genuinely mourning that she couldn't do more.

* Background music in Resistance Camp doesn't have woodwind track (or vocal track after the Bunker is destroyed) to back it up every time you returned to the location, unless you talk to Anemone. Indeed, home doesn't feel like home until you say 'I'm back'.
