Despite Messages for Dad taking place in the war-torn galaxy leading up to the Horus Heresy and in a dark 42nd Millenium where the Emperor died, there are many moments of tenderness, kindness and heartfulness that stand defiant against the encroaching darkness.
Act 1
- From the start, Roboute Guilliman, in the 30th Millenium, rapidly warms up to his son in the 42nd Millenium, Aegidius, when the videos first start.
- Despite the realities of conflict in the 42nd Millenium keeping their family apart, it is very obvious that Roboute Guilliman, Yvraine and Aegidius share a very strong family bond and truly enjoy the few moments they have with each other.
- Starting in Extra 3, Konrad Curze, despite his own issues, warms up to his son, Damien, in the 30th Millenium as he watches the videos and in the 42nd Millenium does show some form of care toward him despite feigning indifference.
- Damien's admiration and faith in his father in general.
- In Extra 4, the Emperor and the Primarchs learn about Angron's past on Nuceria and put aside all their differences to make things right.
- Crosses into Tearjerker but Angron's loving relationship with Falaere, another Nucerian slave brought both of them happiness. Despite the tragic end of their relationship, it is quite obvious that they were each other's rays of sunshine in their hard lives.
- The Emperor and the Primarchs in Meanwhile 1 keeping their word to make things right for Angron by purging the Nucerian High-Riders.
- Angron's reunion with his lost son, Ragio in the same chapter.
- The slaves being finally freed from the Nucerian High-Riders and the little boys being taken in by the various Space Marines such as Tarik Torgaddon.
- In Meanwhile 4, the Emperor's reunion with Alivia Sureka, his long-lost wife and biological "mother" of the Primarchs.
- Chapter 8: Roboute Guilliman's reaction to the news of Rogal Dorn's reappearance in Imperium Secondus.
- In Extra 6, Isha and Mortarion saving each other from Nurgle's diseased clutches and escaping from his realm.
- Meanwhile 2: The Primarchs reaffirming their brotherhood upon Johanuss' grave, and forever severing their timeline from the dark future.The brothers each vowed before their Father, words of binding loyalty to Him, but more importantly, to each other, to work together to honour their brother, to honour their family. To not be torn apart by deceit and corruption, to deny the grip of Chaos, to not allow themselves to be their own worst enemies. Even if they had not forgiven their Father for his wrong doings, the bonds of brotherhood were much more important. And somewhere, sometime, the thread that tied these many realities was severed.
