Heartwarming / Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Go To

  • When Noa comes to save his father from the burning aviary, the latter urges him to free the eagles so they can escape the fire.
  • Raka and Nova/Mae bonding, and convincing Noa to let her use his blanket for warmth.
  • While the final scene between Noa and Mae is tense, a lot of it is lifted when Noa pulls out the medallion of Caesar and begins talking about Raka. He gives it to Mae, and asks her if humans and apes can live together in peace. Raka taught them about the importance of unity going beyond just your species. By working together they were able to take down the false Caesar who knew nothing of his predecessor's true message. He gave them that seed of wisdom, now the two of them will have to decide how the future will play out for both their species.
    • It's also worth noting that Mae didn't have to return to say goodbye to Noa. She had already accomplished her mission and got what she needed after she flooded Proximus Caesar's stronghold. Yet she does anyway. And even though she remains on her guard and keeps a gun hidden behind her, the fact that she even accepts Raka's medallion from Noa at all implies that she's at least willing to consider the possibility that maybe there doesn't need to be a conflict between the two species. Additionally, despite all the distrust she has for the apes as a whole, Noa's action at the end would have reminded her that her mission to return humanity to dominance would not have succeeded without the help of apes like Noa and Raka, a fact that she has to learn to live with and might deter her from pursuing darker paths.
  • Noa reuniting with his mother.
  • While it may not bode well for the Apes, watching the satellite dishes hum to life, the computers run calculations, and the survivors cheer as they make contact with others in a different part of the former U.S., it is unmistakably heartwarming. For the first time in centuries, human civilization has returned.
