Akihiko and Uenoyama's heart-to-heart in Episode 7 starts out pretty funny, with Akihiko freaking out when he realizes Uenoyama actually is in love with Mafuyu and Uenoyama freaking out when Akihiko tells him how obvious it is. But then things take a more serious turn when Uenoyama, uncharacteristically vulnerable, suddenly asks Akihiko if he thinks something's wrong with him. Akihiko just calmly tells him no, and that he shouldn't worry about it. He even goes as far as to tell Uenoyama that he's actually been with men in the past, turning it around and pointing out Uenoyama wouldn't say there's anything wrong with him. It's a surprisingly gentle and warm scene.
After Mafuyu's performance in episode 9, his childhood friend Hiiragi cries out of pride and happiness that Mafuyu was finally able to address his grief and express his feelings over Yuki's suicide.
Uenoyama visits Mafuyu while he's sick and claims that he's immediately going to go home after, but the instant Mafuyu asks him to stay for five more minute he relents. The way he gently touches Mafuyu's cheek (while Mafuyu leans into his touch) is remarkably tender.
Despite his frustration and worries, Haruki gives Uenoyama and Mafuyu the okay to start dating.
While doing schoolwork after the photoshoot Mafuyu and Uenoyama end up saying something at the same time, causing the former to smile and the latter to blush.
