What makes this doubly heartwarming is that this is the very same scene from the ending of ''LightNovel/FateZero'' except now from Shirou's point of view, showing Kiritsugu giving Shirou a content smile.

** Shirou, [[spoiler:despite not knowing Illya as well as he does in the other two routes, gives off some Big Brother vibes when she's being attacked and like Berserker, would do anything to protect her from harm.]]

** There is something satisfying about the ending where Archer reflects on his life and states while he may regret his decisions, he knows he was right in the end and continues his existence in peace. [[spoiler:Showing Shirou smile as he continues to be a hero shows that no matter what he isn't going to regret his decisions and become Archer.]]

** When Shirou complains about Taiga always being at his house and tells her to go home. She responds she is home, and even Shirou had to smile at that.

* Episode 4: How respectful and kind Shirou is to Saber. Let's just say it's a big improvement over Deen's version of the ''Fate'' Route, where he was less so.
* Episode 5: The fact that, despite that Rin tried to harm him, Shirou protected Rin without a second thought; afterwards, Rin returns the favor and saves him from Rider.

* Episode 8: Rin revealing that she used a [[spoiler:Command Seal to protect Shirou after Archer's attack on him]].

** [[spoiler:Caster has taken Shirou's command seals and Saber. Archer casually points out that with him badly wounded he can offer no help at all and asks that Rin remove the alliance between her and Shirou.]] Despite all of this, she still refuses to remove Shirou from her protection and even attempts to discourage him from following her to keep him safe.
** Despite [[spoiler:taking Saber's sword through his shoulder and losing his Servant,]] Shirou still stumbles out of bed and searches for Rin. The reason why? He knows she needs all the help she can get and she means that much to him.
** Rin points out to Archer that he'd been secretly pulling for Saber all along, and points out the observations she made that led her to this conclusion. Through the whole thing, it really shows the viewer that, first of all, Archer isn't too bad of a guy, and second, that despite [[spoiler:his memories fading and the pure hell he had to endure as a Counter Guardian,]] he never forgot or stopped caring for Saber.

** The thing that saves Shirou is [[spoiler: Avalon, the sheath of Excalibur that heals its bearer when Saber is close by. Kiritsugu implanted it in the dying Shirou to save him back at the fire.]] So both back then and now, he's saved by Kiritsugu and Saber.

** Although it was [[BleachedUnderpants toned down from the original]], the mana transfer ritual gave us a glimpse of the most secret memory of Rin [[spoiler:back when she used to be in middle school: seeing Shirou do the high jump, as futile as it was, over and over until sunset, with her staying with him, watching him from afar.]]

*** In this respect, just like Kiritsugu and Saber saved Shirou from the flames, he saves them back from their doubts and regrets and helps them find peace with their actions and themselves.
