- The conflict of the movie stems from Morgan's feelings of inadequacy as Giselle's stepdaughter rather than biological daughter like her half-sister Sofia. It's made clear that under all the snark and angst, Morgan deeply loves Giselle (she calls her Mom throughout) and all the magic and Fairy Tale whimsy she represents (just look at her reaction to her new Princess-themed room) and wishes Giselle was just her mom. Also made clear is that Giselle has always considered Morgan her daughter; there's no stepdaughter Morgan and daughter Sofia, just her two beautiful, beloved, magical daughters.
- Giselle, when initially realizing the wish has turned her into a Wicked Stepmother, is horrified at the notion of hurting Morgan.
- Despite Morgan's insecurities surrounding not being a true Andalusian like her half-sister Sofia, Morgan never resents her baby sister, and from the brief interactions they have, seems quite fond of her.
- Though it leads to a Tearjerker, Robert calling Giselle "your mother" when fighting with Morgan shows how Giselle has been functionally Morgan's mom for all these years, and it is indicated that the ONLY reason Morgan points out that Giselle is in fact her Stepmother is because the frustration of moving away combined with her above-mentioned insecurities of not being Giselle's biological daughter just become way too much for her teenage self to handle.
- A brief shot of the memories shown during Love Power seems to show that Morgan was a bridesmaid or even the Maid of Honor at Giselle and Robert's wedding.
- In the end Giselle makes it clear that she simply does not care whatsoever about the official status of their relationship one bit and as far as she is concerned Morgan is as much her daughter as the biological Sofia is, something that Andalasian magic itself backs up when Morgan proves capable of using a wand that only a "true daughter of Andalasia" can use.Giselle: You are a true daughter of Andalasia because you are my daughter Morgan.
