Heartwarming moments in Central Park.

    open/close all folders

In General

  • Birdie may be forbidden to reveal certain details in the story to the Tillermans, but he's glad to help them out in any situation without asking anything in return. And despite watching the Tillermans can be seen as creepy, he truly cares about them and calls them his family.
  • Moments involving Cole and Shampagne. Shampagne is miserable living with Bitsy, despite living in luxury; but when he's with Cole, that's when he's truly happy.

Season One

    Episode One
  • When Brendan sees that Molly is watching him from a distance and drawing him in her comics, he isn't creeped out by her and tells her he likes her drawings, which makes Molly very happy.
  • While all the turtleheads were trampled over by people searching for Shampagne, Molly and Paige made Owen feel better with what they did. Molly managed to save a turtlehead and gives it to her father, and Paige wrote a story about turtleheads.

    Skater's Park
  • When Cole is devastated that he's unable to reunite with Shampagne, he hears Shampagne howling to him, letting Cole know he hasn't forgotten him.

     Dog Spray Afternoon
  • Cole reuniting with Shampagne again and they're both happy to see each other.
  • Helen's Pet the Dog moments with Cole. When Cole offers to walk Shampagne for her, Helen allows it. After returning from their walk, Cole shows her a new trick he taught Shampagne, which Helen almost smiles at before going back to her serious nature. She asks Cole if they can meet again so he can walk Shampagne, Cole happily accepts and hugs Helen, which confuses her. After she believes Bitsy puts Shampagne in her will to inherit everything, Helen plans on killing Shampagne, but can't go through with it after remembering the trick Cole taught Shampagne. When Shampagne runs into a busy street, Cole goes in to pick him up and then Helen pulls them out of the way of an incoming bus. Cole is grateful that Helen saved them and Helen can't believe she did that.

    Rival Busker
  • Owen and Cole are stuck up in a tree and in danger of falling off thanks to an angry owl mother, and the only other person around — Griffin, the new narrator — refuses to help them due to his insistence on following the narrating rules to the letter. Birdie wants to save them, but Griffin warns Birdie that if he interferes with the plot a second time, he “could be out of the story altogether.” Birdie doesn't care what’ll happen to him and rushes in to rescue Owen and Cole anyway. After saving them, Birdie walks off thinking he's out of the story for good, all while Griffin takes the opportunity for one last potshot at Birdie's expense, narrating that the only things Birdie will know for sure in his uncertain future are that he "sucks at his job” and “[is] annoying to others" ... that is, until both of them notice that the camera's not staying with Griffin, but following Birdie, indicating that he's back as the narrator. Whoever their "boss" is approved of Birdie's selfless act and reinstalled him as narrator as a reward, and fired Griffin for endangering Owen and Cole’s lives through his inaction.
  • When Anya has cold feet about marrying her fiance because of her family's criminal background, Paige and Molly convinces her to go through with the wedding by singing "Show Up". In return, Anya invites them to her wedding and gives them a layer of her wedding dress to wear at the wedding.

     Squirrel, Interrupted
  • At the family retreat, Brendan reveals to his family that he met a girl named Molly, showing that he has no animosity towards her for almost killing him. And he's shown to be a really nice guy when he confronts Bitsy about her plan to buy Central Park.

    Hot Oven
  • The episode opens up by revealing that Molly and Brendan became a couple, despite the peanut allergy kiss disaster.

    Live it Up Tonight
  • Birdie proving why he's a good narrator and that he cares for the Tillermans by stalling the auditor, Anita, long enough for Owen and Paige to return with the receipt by playing salsa music on his violin in the background.
  • While Anita dances to Birdie's salsa music, Elwood offers to dance with her because she's missing her salsa class and wants to make it up for her. After Owen and Paige make it back with the receipt, she praises Owen for being an honest man and Elwood for having unbelievable natural rhythm.

    A Fish Called Snakehead
  • Molly adding Owen, Paige, and Cole in her drawings, seeing her whole family as superheroes.
  • Though it has a few ominous sequel hooks, "Die Trying" is full of heartwarming moments, including:
    • Molly, Owen, Paige, and Cole catching the fish and exposing Bitsy's lies together.
    • Owen and his workers receiving commendations from the mayor (Jerkass though he may be).
    • Owen and Paige sharing an Orbital Kiss near the end of the episode, which is the first time we see them kiss on-screen.
    • A series of blink-and-you-miss-it moments show the family skating with Glorious Gary, taking pictures of the turtleheads, and (finally) pigging out on spicy cheese bread. After all they've had to deal with this season, it's nice to see them having a good time.

Season Two

    Central Dark
  • Helen stands up to Bitsy when the latter starts badmouthing the former's home township of Weehawken. We then get to hear Helen sing about why she loves Weehawken so much and all the great things you can find there.

    Mother's Daze
  • Owen, Molly, and Cole decide to give Paige the best Mother's Day celebration they've ever given as thanks for her always putting them above herself.

    The Shadow
  • "Sometimes when one person notices you, it makes all the difference."

    A Decent Proposal
  • Molly and Bitsy spend a good part of the latter's birthday party enjoying each other's company, with both feeling like Fish out of Water among the other guests.
    • Especially heartwarming when you consider Molly's greatest fear at the party was running into Bitsy, who is at war with her family over Central Park.
    • Although Bitsy initially doesn't recognize her, when she does, she still is amicable with Molly, whom she seems to genuinely like.

    The Ballad of Johnnie Lee
  • Owen, Molly, and Paige all support Cole after he embarrasses himself in front of the entire school.

Season Three

    Paige's Next Chapter
  • Abby faces her fear of using the train to help Paige get to a meeting with a big book publisher.

    Ice Ice Not Baby
  • Birdie makes sure that Molly and Brendan can have a romantic time skating together at the end of the episode.

A Matter of Life and Boeuf
  • Bitsy thanks Abby for defending her when the former was accused of trying to poison Ambrose.

    A Hot Dog To Remember
  • The opening treats us to a montage of Louie's days selling hot dogs to the others, and we see moments like Owen getting hot dogs when he was a kid and later as an adult just after Cole was born. We also see Gary, in a business suit, getting a hot dog as a skater passed by. No wonder Gary was so eager to help: his passion for skating started at the stand!
  • Cole getting other fans of Louie to help push the cart to the park on time to break the record.
  • Louie keeps a bunch of photos tapped inside his cart, showcasing important moments of his family life starting from when he first got his cart. At the end of the episode, there's a new one: his name being written in the ledger with Cole and Owen in it.
