In spite of her heartbreak, Marzia remains friends with Elio.
The relationship Elio has with his parents is full of this. The scene where all three affectionately pile up on the couch and listen to the mother read a story in German deserves particular mention. They are also, each in their own way, supportive of Elio's feelings for Oliver.
