Heartwarming / Built Different (Signless Acolyte)

Go To

  • Sandy, the new SI within David's Sandevistan, is basically a living Moment of Heartwarming. They always support and advise David, not just in combat but in his new life choices. And unlike most AIs in the Cyberpunk-verse, Sandy has no malevolent intentions for David.
    • During the crew's first gig under Falkins, David experiences some strange sensations when he makes an internal decision. When he tells Viktor about it later, the ripperdoc comes to the conclusion that the AI was hugging David.
    • Despite having access to David's Past-Life Memories from Edgerunners, Sandy doesn't mull on how that's possible. Instead, because it wants to protect David from going through that again, Sandy starts to gradually improve David's body because David is important to them.
    • When recounting its earliest memories, Sandy uses a respectful tone of voice when mentioning Gloria.
  • Despite being angry with Kiwi for her betrayal in Edgerunners, David realizes that attacking Kiwi now for something that she hasn't done yet isn't right, especially if it's possible that she might be convinced to making a different choice.
  • While he's ultimately small fish, Jeffrey Falkins proves to be the kind of fixer that Faraday will never be: a professional who treats Maine's crew with respect instead of pomposity. Maine and company respect Falkins in turn, appreciating his honesty. Even when the intel for Falkin's jobs tends to be wrong (which turns out to be Faraday's fault), it never sours the relationship between the crew and Falkins.
  • The "Happy Birthday, Gloria" interlude sees Lucy and Rebecca find David, who's feeling a miasma of guilt on his mother's birthday, and remind him that he is not alone. Shortly after, Maine arrives, having finished decorating Gloria's urn. All four 'runners stick around to sing Gloria "Happy Birthday". All around, it's a touching tribute to Gloria Martinez.
