Heartwarming / Barbie in the Nutcracker

Go To

  • The flower fairies restoring the valley- they apparently also ship Clara and the Nutcracker!
  • Much of the movie, Major Mint has been dismissive of Nutcracker, but when he leaps out of the sleigh to confront the rock golem, the major calls after him: "A sword's not gonna do you any good, lad! You'll be pulverized!"
  • When Clara shatters the wall in the dungeon separating her and her friends, she immediately runs to hug Nutcracker. Aww!
  • The grand pas de deux, followed by the Big Damn Kiss.
    • Especially the brief segment showing light and color returning to the land, presumably as Clara's magic continues to unravel the Mouse King's wicked influence.
    • Also, Clara's response when Prince Eric asks her to stay in Parthenia as his queen is sure to melt your heart.
Clara: This locket was supposed to take me home. But in my heart, I feel I'm already there.
  • Even while everyone else scoffs at Prince Eric and blames him for Parthenia's troubles, Captain Candy remains firmly loyal to him. Not once during the entire film does he have anything negative to say about his friend.
Captain Candy: Major Mint, you're forgetting that Prince Eric was my friend.
  • After the Nutcracker saves Captain Candy from falling into a ravine, Clara gently asks the captain if he still feels alright enough to travel. Candy, while understandably shaken by the experience, reassures Clara that he's fine and not to worry about him.
  • When the Nutcracker is broken, Clara angrily scolds Tommy. Only moments later, however, she asks the nutcracker not to be too upset with her brother, acknowledging that he didn't do it on purpose.
    • One for Tommy as well—As Clara fashions a makeshift sling out of a ribbon, he's standing nearby and watching to make sure the nutcracker will be alright, showing that he's genuinely sorry for the mishap.
  • The people's wholehearted forgiveness of Prince Eric once the Mouse King is defeated and he's restored to his true form, revealing that he'd been fighting for them all along despite their open disdain for him.
  • Clara gradually growing more confident about dancing as the snow and flower fairies encourage her, culminating in the pas de deux at the end.
  • Captain Candy's declaration that the Nutcracker has earned the right to lead; doubly so since the Nutcracker made it clear earlier in the film that he feels he lost that right when he let the Mouse King take over.
    • And then the Nutcracker says, "I'm only half the reason." Then extends his hand to Clara so she can lead with him.
  • When Major Mint and Captain Candy accidentally trip each other up during the Dance Party Ending, they laugh and help each other to their feet instead of arguing like they have at every other opportunity up to that point.
  • Clara and Eric reuniting in her world. When he gives Clara her missing locket, her eyes light up with the realization that this "stranger" truly is her beloved prince.
Eric: May I have this dance?
Clara: (glances at the Sugarplum Princess ornament and smiles at Eric) I couldn't say no to the king.
