• Malloy resuscitating an infant in the pilot episode. He was performing CPR on the infant and warned Reed it wasn't going to work. Reed was trying to break it to the parents gently when they hear the baby squalling in the next room.
  Malloy: [holding the infant] You grow up and swim the Channel, Gladys! You've got the lungs for it!
• Reed and Malloy spot a guy inside a car at a car dealership after hours. The guy insists that he wasn't going to steal the car, he just wanted to get in and turn the engine over. Malloy checks the other cars and finds some with keys, some without. They run the guy and find out he has a record for auto theft and that he's out on parole. The guy pleads with them that he's got a good job now and he wasn't going to boost the car. Reed asks Malloy, who tells him that Reed knows enough about the situation to make the decision on his own. After a moment, Reed says that he believes if the guy was really going to steal the car he would have done a better job of setting it up (the car was blocked in by another auto that was locked and had the windows up) so he's free to go. Malloy smiles and tells Reed he "did a big thing".
• Reed's baby boy being born. Especially the last scene of the ep.
  • A few episodes later, Malloy accepts Reed's offer of being Jimmy's godfather.
• At the end of the episode "The Search," where Reed initiates and ultimately succeeds in locating a badly injured Malloy (who had driven off into a ravine while chasing a wanted suspect through a park late at night) ... when he finds him and calls for an ambulance and backup, Malloy awakens from near-shock to mutter one word: "Partner!"
