Heartwarming / A Good Day to Die Hard

• The ending:
  • Jack has come on good terms with John, accepting his name as a McClane, and after they avoid getting killed by Irina, Jack finally refers to John as "Dad" (not counting the first time in the film where they see each other) before John responds to him. They end up rejoining Lucy in the States as a family.
  • Crossed with Tear Jerker and Hindsight: Given it's now by default the final scene in the Die Hard franchise—unless you count the commercial, it's as close to perfect an ending scene as can be.
  • The film's final lines as McClane and Jack walk away from the wreckage is the perfect mix of how bittersweet the idea of the series ending is when that realization dawns:
    Jack: Let me ask you something: you go looking for trouble or does it always seem to find you?
    McClane: (chuckling) You know, after all these years, I still ask myself the same question.
