Headscratchers / The Hallow

Go To

  • What did the Hallows actually want to achieve by kidnapping the child? Why are they arranging actions with changellings at all? What do they need normal, human babies for, which they apparently don't immediately try to remedy, as they do with adults and older children? I understand that changellings are part of the Fair Folk mythos, but the Hallows don't look like creatures who would do anything for mere entertainment.
    • It could be that infecting a child results in a more loyal Hallow. Adam's resistance to the infection is unlikely to be any one-in-a-million scenario, which itself resulted in killing one Hallow (on-screen) and derailing their plans to kidnap his baby. Even if he would have succumbed eventually, that's alot of damage to a group that doesn't replenish numbers easy. Infecting him in the first place could have been to sow panic, or the hope he spreads it himself, or simple impulse - but a child is a guaranteed recruit, who can't protest to the only life they've ever known.
