Headscratchers / Star Trek S2 E1 "Amok Time"

• We already know at this point that Spock's father is Vulcan (and an ambassador) and his mother is human. But they don't show up at their son's wedding?
  • "Journey to Babel" establishes that Spock and Sarek’s relationship is strained at best, and basically non-existent. In-universe Sarek likely refused to go.
  • Given that Sarek is an ambassador, he and Amanda might have been off-planet when the incident took place. If they were under a communications blackout, they might not even have known that it was happening until it was over.
  • Perhaps it's simply not Vulcan custom for parents to attend a wedding. We didn't see T'Pring's parents either.
• "It is a thing no outworlder may know, except those very few who have been involved..." - but Vulcan Space Central - Vulcan Space Central, for crying out loud - is more than happy to patch T'Pring through so that she and Spock can flirt while he's standing on the bridge of a starship with his non-Vulcan crew mates.
  • Presumably what they don't discuss is the fact that they lose their minds if they don't go home and have sex every so often. Stoic Vulcan flirting doesn't fall under that category.
