Headscratchers / Road of the Dead

Go To

  • Why are all undead so focused on you even though there's plenty of easier prey around? This is particularly jarring with the mutants, especially in the second game, where they're stated to be more intelligent.
  • Why is the Hellfire pilot flying backwards in front of you instead of pursuing you from behind? He's practically asking for Creasman to divert him to crashing into those highway signs.
  • Why don't any of the civilians, you take onboard in the second game, comment on what are you doing? You may leave other civilians to die or even hit them with your Hummvee and the passengers all take it in a stride. They don't distress when there's an undead clinging to your hood, or even if your vehicle is on fire. They won't even hesitate to board the car when it's burning. Are they that stupid?
    • Simple Gameplay and Story Segregation. The civilians likely react to what's happening in-universe, but it would be too much work to put into a flash game.
  • What's with the "let's nuke the undead-infested city, it'll surely work out" attitude of the military? All you need to kill any zombie is wreck their head. And why fight them on foot and light vehicles, which are relaively easy to barge in? Instead why not get heavy armor and just grind all the walking corpses with your treads? Not even mutants can penetrate armored vehicles. The casualties would be little to none.
    • The unnamed commander really messed up. No explanation to why the military never adopted this even after he was replaced, though.
  • Shortly after General Sherman takes command, he tells the checkpoint to let John through as he has a surprise for him. What exactly was the surprise?
