Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers 2022

  • Why are Chip & Dale not designed like their appearances in CNDRR'22? With that, why isn't Peter Pan, Sweet Pete. Is the film canon?
    • Presumably not for this short.
      • Is CNDRR official canon at all. Heck, outside of Disney Media shouldn’t villains be dead and show people in their current appearance?
    • Easy. That's simply how they looked on their pictures.

    • Because Walt Disney Animation Studios wasn't involved in the film. That's just simple. The film was using Moving Picture Company for the fictional characters that are animated. Besides Rescue Rangers as in the actual show wasn't even made by WDAS and instead Disney Television Animation.

Kuzco

  • Why is Kuzco a llama in the short if he turned back into a human at the end of his film?
    • He's more iconic as a llama because that's what the main premise of his movie was. It's the same reason that Beast and his servants are still stuck in their cursed forms in most media; fans are more likely to recognize them this way. Same reason why Jane Porter is in her proper yellow dress and Shanti is in her original pinkish-purple dress with the red sash fron the original Jungle Book.
    • As with the characters mentioned above, that's simply how he looked in his picture.

Mulan's intrusion on Asha's moment with Snow White

  • Snow White, the first Disney Princess, makes a point of reaching out and grasping hands with Asha, the newest. And Mulan is also in that shot. Seems a bit intrusive; does she hold any significance, timeline-wise?
    • Perhaps it’s also meant to represent different types of Disney princesses? Snow White is white European, Mulan is Asian and Asha is a black Latina. Snow White and Seven Dwarfs is also a fairytale, Mulan is a legend and Wish is an original movie.
    • Mulan was the last Disney Princess of the Renaissance era.
    • Someone in the Fridge section reckons it's because Mulan was introduced during Disney's last milestone celebration (the 75th anniversary).
    • Asha isn't a princess, but merely the then-latest female lead of a Disney Animated Canon film; likely she's with Snow White (the first) and Mulan because of that. While she could be added to the Princess branding down the line (despite having no royal ties, since Mulan counts), it isn't likely due to Wish being a Box Office Bomb.

Fixing the camera

  • After Goofy breaks the camera, everyone is about to give up and it's not until Alan-A-Dale starts up "When You Wish Upon a Star" that the Magic Brooms and Fix-It Felix repair the camera. Couldn't they have thought of that earlier?
    • Since Felix is such a tiny guy, maybe he didn't see what happened until then, or he was at the end of the crowd and other larger characters were in his way. Regardless, this wasn't taken into account during the making of this short, since the genie or the fairies or any other magical character could've accomplished the same task had it actually been relevant. The real reason may be that we needed the brief Tear Jerker moment so that Alan-A-Dale could cheer everybody up with the musical number.
    • Forgot About His Powers.
      • One could also argue that even if the Disney characters had thought of a solution sooner, Felix (and presumably all the other magical character as well) might've been sceptical about whether or not their efforts would actually work. This level of doubt would be a natural result of the unimaginable pressure many of the characters must've felt over WDAS's centennial (which may have been considerably heavier than the film seems to let on), and so the the brief Tear Jerker moment may have been inevitable either way, necessitating the new rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star".

Leaving and returning order

  • The order in which characters emerge both the first attempt at the group photo before Goofy falls off the ladder, and the second attempt during the new rendition of 'When You Wish Upon a Star' is left frustratingly unclear. Some characters such as Cinderella and Prince Charming, for example, may have been on their way to the courtyard during the first attempt, but were dismayed to see everyone heading back inside, before everyone began singing, prompting them to continue on their way down.
    • This may also explain why only certain characters were chosen to sing solo parts.
    • Some characters may have already been outside during the failed first attempt, albeit off-camera, and may have stayed behind, trying desperately to find some way to help Goofy.

All Goofy's fault?

  • Assuming the the entire studio knows each other, then they should all know that Goofy is probably the clumsiest of them. So why would they let him be the one to take the picture?
    • Things may have still taken a similar turn even if they had chosen someone else.
    • Not to mention Mickey still had some faith in Goofy to be able to set up the camera, and was simply too loyal to him to force him to take a backseat.
    • In a storyboarded version of the scene, after Grumpy's "Well, that was fun!" Flynn would have started to ask whose idea it was to have Goofy take the photo before Rapunzel nervously cut him off by elbowing him in the chest.
  • Regardless of whether or not Goofy was chosen, something still may have gone wrong. Even if they had managed to set up the camera, it still might've malfunctioned, with it being as old as it was. Not to mention that everyone was under tremendous pressure to get it right, perhaps more so than the short itself really let on. As such, the botched first attempt may have consequently been inevitable, and the characters' spirits would most likely need lifting either way.
    • Although choosing arguably Disney's clumsiest character still wasn’t a good idea, all paths seem to lead to virtually the same outcome. Even if there was no fault with the camera at all, some characters, feeling the gravity and importance of the milestone, may have cracked under pressure. As such, Alan-a-Dale, or potentially some other characters, would have to take charge in rebuilding everyone else's morale with the new rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star". It may not have ultimately been the camera itself that truly needed fixing.

Canceled for how long?

  • There is a possibility that many of the characters may not have intended to cancel the centennial photoshoot outright, but rather to just postpone it.
    • As has been hinted at in at least one fanfic, some of the more optimistic characters might have been intent on merely trying the group photo again later that week, and potentially making more of an effort to avoid another failed attempt.
    • In a storyboarded version of the scene, Eeyore's line is "Maybe we can try again next year."

Ralph calling Mickey “Garfield”

  • Why would Ralph, a video game character, call Mickey Mouse “Garfield”? Wouldn’t it make more sense if he called Mickey “Mario” (since both are compared frequently) or even “Sonic” since not only did he appeared both Wi R and its sequel, but also open the opportunity for Ugly Sonic to pop up since Disney practically took him in.
    • Personally, I think it would have been funny if he had called him "Mortimer".

Roger Rabbit/Stop motion exclusion

  • Since the Penguin Waiters from Mary Poppins appear in this short, how come characters from Who Framed Roger Rabbit didn’t show up? And also, how come no characters from any of the three stop motion films (Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach and Frankenweenie) weren’t represented in anyway?
    • Roger Rabbit wasn't made by Walt Disney Animation and Tim Burton's were under Walt Disney Pictures. But many of the animated humans in Mary Poppins looked like people from The Sword And The Stone.

Prep and Landing’s inclusion

  • This is one thing I’ve always wondered, how come Prep and Landing is represented in this short? Is it because the special is part of the Disney canon?

What film do the Sensational Six represent?
