  • I've just seen the 2010 movie, and I was wondering...Why did Abby keep bringing up the hypothetical "if I wasn't a girl?" My first impression was that she just doesn't consider vampires to be one gender or the other...and from what I've read up on, this was explained in the book/original movie in that Eli was a boy who had been castrated, I guess? But the 2010 movie never mentions anything like that. Abby just says "I'm nothing."
    • Yes in the book and Swedish film Eli's "not a girl" is an intention double meaning of the gender and vampire kind. In this film it means just the vampire context. However from an in-character rationalization you could argue Abby sees her vampire transformation as having robbed from her the ability to have a normal boy-girl relationship because she will forever remain her young self while her boyfriends would grow older. So that is originally how she chooses to frame it instead of just coming out with the whole "i'm a vampire, don't date me".
    • Out of universe it is pretty likely they liked that line but didn't think this films audience would find that aspect of Eli/Abby's character as likable. So keep the line and have a more fuzzy way of understanding it, even though in it's original context it made complete sense.

  • Im curious about one thing, when Owen got in trouble for hitting Kenny with the metal stick why did Mr.Zoric not tell anyone he had been defending himself? I understand Owen not telling anyone because he assumed no adult cared or would believe him, or it would only make things worse et cetera but Zoric knew Kenny was a bully and had been watching the three bullies crowd around Owen at the lake harassing him.
