Headscratchers / Laverne & Shirley

• When Shirley says she doesn't "vodeo-dodo", Laverne says, "You vodeo-doh". I know "vodeo-dodo" means sex, but what does "vode-doh" mean?
  • Probably "Would do" with a bad pronounciation to imitate the sound of vodeo-dodo.
  • The scene in question. Shirley says she doesn't "vodeo-do-do" and Laverne replies "you vodeo" (without the "do-do"). Laverne is saying Shirley might not have sex but she does fool around, to like second base.
• What is wrong with Amy Babish? She doesn't look like she has Down Syndrome and she's not in a wheelchair or anything.
  • It's implied that she may be autistic or dyslexic. She was "slow" and had to go to a special school. She was 19 but was at an 8th grade learning level. You don't have to "look" slow to be slow. I have a learning disability and struggled in school but you would never know just by meeting me.
  • They refer to Amy as retarded which at that time was a clinical diagnosis of mental retardation or as we would call it today an intellectual disability. Significantly below average intelligence. Slow to learn. The kind of person who would be in remedial classes all the way through school.
