Chris's sexual assault
Why don't Lisa and Chris press assault charges after Abel has his buddies pin him down so a stripper can grind on him? A lot of the other harassment would be hard to prove in court because it would be his word against theirs, but in this case Abel sent Lisa video evidence! As I recall, Abel wasn't visible in the video, but his voice is heard, and the rest of them are caught dead to rights. Hell, some of them might even be willing to testify against Abel as part of a plea bargain. It just seems weird the worst thing to come of that is Lisa giving Abel a dirty look.
Abel's motive and character
What was the philosophy and reasoning of Abel trying to force Chris and Lisa out of the neighborhood? As far as I'm aware, the movie never exactly explains how his wife's death correlates to Chris's relationship to an African-American woman, also not to mention he casually mentioned that the guy his wife cheated on was Caucasian, as if it was a big surprise, so he already had to have objected to interracial relationships. I just didn't understand what he was hoping to achieve from all of this.
- Abel is self centered control freak, as well as a bully and a bigot. He wants to intimidate Chris and Lisa into moving out for no other reason than their relationship displeases him and he doesn’t want to have to look at it around his home. He could simply ignore them but doesn’t want to, he wants to lash out at them and cause them misery.
