Headscratchers / Island of the Lizard King

• Depending on what choices you make, the Gochong can take over your body and mind by inserting its proboscis into your head. But that leads to a Plot Hole if you've gotten Sog's helmet protecting your head or the wizard's red powder which stops any mind control. Wouldn't one or both of these items prevent the Gochong from controlling you?
  • Maybe the powder can work against illusions, but not to actual brainwashing caused by physical alteration of the brain (I always assumed the Gochong's control is something like this). And maybe it's smart enough to try to knock off your helmet during the combat. Or the helmet doesn't cover the nape, who knows.
