Headscratchers / I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

The tanning bed.
So, Julie's trapped in a tanning bed in the second film. Very quickly, four people come to the rescue. They eventually use a blunt object(?!) to break the ziptie holding the halves of the tanning bed in place after some struggling and a lot of writhing around from Jennifer Love-Hewitt. Nobody bothered to reach over to the wall and unplug the bed?
  • Panic-induced stupidity?
Related question: Why would someone make a tanning bed capable of getting hot enough to kill someone?Ok, I could see someone getting pretty bad burns if they stayed in one for like 24 hours straight (possibly bad enough to need hospitalization and the like), but the scene makes it seem like it's hot enough she'll die if they don't get her out within a few minutes or so.

Hot Tub Time Machine?
So Will Benson is in the hot tub while Julie finds the porters body. She runs out and gets their attention to show the group the body, when they go in to check the corpse is gone and the blood is cleaned. BUT Will is the killer, so how did he pull that off?
  • It was pretty clear that Ben and Will were working together. So it was probably Ben who clean up after the body.

No Geography Lessons
  • Seriously...in none of the prep and planning and boasting of their "win", it didn't occur to any of the group (especially the usually smart Julie) to bother doing a ten-second search that would reveal Rio de Janeiro is not the capital of Brazil?
    • On a similar note: as this review semi-rhetorically asks, were we the audience supposed to know the answer was wrong? Either way, it comes of as bad writing, for reasons the review explains (if we weren't, that seems to imply the writers think the viewers are stupid, and couldn't possibly know the answer to a basic geography question, whereas, if we were meant to know, it kind of ruins a lot of the suspense by having the viewers this far "ahead" of the characters, as well as inadvertently making the characters look dumb, as mentioned above.)
    • To be frank, since they already won the competition, why would they have looked back to double-check? They had already won a free holiday; they wouldn't feel a need to look up what they had apparently known.
