Brine-lords
- In chapter 3 Circe describes the "great chain of fear" of the gods, mentioning the brine-lords alongside the river-gods. While I know of many river-gods in Hreek mythology, I've never heard of brine-lords. Is this something Miller made up or does it reference an obscure part of mythology?
- Brine is salty water; I assumed it was a term she made up to refer to the sea-gods alongside the freshwater gods.
