• When the astronauts steal the jet, why don't they attempt to radio someone on it? The Mars landing is very well-televised, so why doesn't Brubaker just contact anyone in range and explain the situation? By the time they take the jet, the bad guys already know they've escaped and are on the run, so it's not like they're going to blow their cover.
  • Because voices could be faked but the astronauts' physical presence is undeniable evidence. It's also quite possible that attempting to use the radio could get them located and shot down.
