• How does Boy understand June 27 when she's wearing her helmet? He reads lips normally but multiple times, he reacts to her words even though her face is completely hidden by her helmet.
  • The visor displays text which she uses to communicate without talking. He must be reading that.
• If the Boy had his tongue cut out in order to make him mute, then how does he taste the macaroons well enough to identify the various flavors?
  • He still has part of his tongue, and there's taste buds throughout a person's mouth. While the majority are on the tongue, tasting strong flavors such as strawberry would certainly be possible without the entirety of his tongue.
