  • Roy says he knows Guan Yin's name because she calls it out every time she kills him. But in the montage of her doing so, she always cuts Roy's head off, which would kill him instantly before she has time to shout her catchphrase. So how did he hear her after she killed him?
    • Human heads can survive detached from the body for a couple seconds after decapitation. He probably heard it before he died.
  • Roy establishes in the opening scene that he can memorize the fight sequences of his opponents so that he can Curb-Stomp Battle them all, to the point that he can walk between the bullets of minigun fire. So why isn't he able to do the same thing when shooting at Guan Yin in the third act?
    • Because it took him several repeats before he got good enough to memorize all the details (We're at attempt #140 at the start of the film) and that's when he first gets to the fight with Guan Yin in the office. It might take him fifty fights before he 'figures out' how to beat her, and he would have to go through the whole preceding day as well to even get to that point. So, after a few failed tries, he decides to practice in advance so he can beat her as-is (Plus, given how good he was in his final duel where he beat her, he did memorize at least some of her movements from the previous iterations).
    • If you pay attention to their eventual duel, you will notice that Roy isn't really fighting her, but acts from memorised choreography. This means he not only received training from Dai Feng to even stand a chance in a sword fight, but confronted Guan Yin at least few times already, offscreen. That and the fact Roy is a brilliant example of an Idiot Hero. Thus his attempt at defeating Guan Yin isn't about doing the obvious -leading his aim once he memorises her routine and counter-moves - but to learn how to fight with a sword.
