- Odette’s physician Herman Timm is so happy to treat the princess herself that he goes on about winter being a dangerous time for health until Odette cuts him short and explains she didn’t come for medical treatment but rather to ask him about Queen Anne.
- Siegfried is the Moment Killer of all time. He sees Rothbart and Odette locked in an embrace and wants to alert them to his presence with a polite cough, but he forgets his mouth is full of cherry stones and spends five minutes spitting them out. Even Rothbart and Odette can’t help but burst into laughter.
- The ending of the book can be summed up as "Rothbart marries Odette and Siegfried marries Odile". For those only familiar with the ballet, it looks like the ultimate The Bad Guy Wins ending, except it’s anything but.
