Like the original fic, Rebuild has plenty of funny moments.
- Chapter 1: The rewrite still gives us Shinji and Rei's meeting in the original. However, it now gives us Shinji's 'fight' with Iblis, which was a total Curb Stomp. Why is this funny? ...Well, it might have something to do with the image of an Evangelion kicking an angel half its size up in the air repeatedly.Shinji: "This is AMAZING!"*Kicks Iblis back into the air*Shinji: "And it's GOOD!"
- Chapter 2: After a day of sleep deprivation and weirdness, Shinji gets a call from Asuka at 2 AM. His first response is to start hitting on her, saying "I got plenty of time for sexy klutz voices." Her reaction to this after the call ends just makes it better. If that's not enough, imagine her stumbling around in the kitchen while accidentally setting her dinner on fire while on the phone. That's what you get for multitasking at the worst possible time, people!
- Chapter 3: Rei Ayanami. Student Council President.Rei: "They laughed at me when I proposed an unlicensed nuclear fission generator in the basement! They scoffed at my plans for a fusion reactor that ran on marmalade! But I promise to fix the lights in the third floor hallway! And in return, all I ask is for your obedience! Mine is the power and right to rule! And yours is the power to have a great year!"
- Chapter 4: Even when engaged in battle with a giant yonic tentacle monster, Shinji finds time to be passive aggressive and snark at people. Even Yui had lampshaded on his attitude.
- Chapter 7: Yui finds out that the MAGI is an Expy of Wheatley, and he even mentions neurotoxin and smooth jazz.
- Chapter 8: Hikari spends some time watching Yui and Kyoko as they come very close to getting in an honest-to-goodness catfight on the deck of an aircraft carrier. As they turn to leave, she finds herself mentally... comparing the two of them, and then starts desperately praying that it's only because she was mind-linked with Touji that she's thinking about a pair of mothers like that. It only gets worse (and funnier) from there.
- Chapter 14: Rei, Asuka, and Annette are having tea, when Rei and Annette reveal to each other that they are playing Poisoned Chalice Switcheroo with the tea cups, Annette placing sleeping pills in one cup, and Rei placing amphetamines in the other. Furthermore, both have swapped the cups around, knowing that this would happen. But once they drink the tea, both girls cannot taste anything wrong. Cue Asuka fainting from both the sleeping pills and the amphetamines in her cup.
- First words Shinji tells Asuka when he finally sees her? "Hi, klutzy sexy voice", followed by "Did I say that out loud?"
