• When captured by military bureaucrats, they make the mistake of scanning him. The scan declares him a fleet level threat—DO NOT ENGAGE. They promptly shoot him, and he defeats them while unarmed and unequipped as easily as if he was disarming a child of a sharp stick. He is far more annoyed than he is threatened.
  Varic: You did see it said "do not engage," right? This is engaging!
• Varic claims the Last Horizon, the invincible starship of myth and legend, the pinnacle of technology and magic. He is immediately almost shot down by a couple minor scout craft that he could have outfought in his old half-dead ship.
  Varic: I would have been better off in an escape pod!
