Funny / Release That Witch

Go To

  • Roland attempts to make a Badass Boast before engaging the demonic beasts, which earn him a weirded out look from Lightning, telling him that sounded lame, but quickly flies off to do her mission. Roland then nervously asks Anna and Nightingale if they thought his battle declaration sounded lame, to which they admit that it does.
  • Anna managed to evolve her powers further due to gaining more academic knowledge and her curiosity to find out more. Finding this out, Roland decides to open up classes for the witches in order to have better understanding of their powers. As he declares this, Nightingale tries to sneak away, only for Roland to pluck her by the scruff of her neck as if saying, “Oh no you don’t! You’re attending school, too!”
  • Once Duke Ryan was killed, Roland and his team march into Longsong Stronghold which he says the next thing for them to do after defeating an enemy is to “feel the corpse”. Anna and Nightingale immediately get freaked out, thinking him a necrophiliac. Roland has to quickly explain it was just an expression for taking whatever valuables the enemy left behind.
    • The following scene gets depicted as a 2D side-scrolling platformer game as Roland and his group wander the area collecting valuables.
  • As Petrov Hull comes to pay the ransom of his father's freedom, an Imagine Spot of Roland with the "Boss" meme, complete with 8-bit glasses and marijuana in mouth. And it's in-universe too.
  • There is a running gag where when people see Maggie they wonder if she has gained weight from all the eating she is doing.
  • After capturing Longsong Stronghold, Roland and his subjects take a boat back to Bordertown. As Roland started making plans for the future, he suddenly gets a whiff of the air from the numerous human feces left on the ground, causing him to throw up (hilariously censored by a rainbow). At that point, Roland "makes the most important decision ever made in the history of Bordertown" : Build! The! Toilet! When he also mentioned collecting human feces to use as fertilizer for crops, Carter and Baron get an Imagine Spot of them sprinkling excrement on crops then later eating food grown from said crops - which looks like edible feces. They immediately barf from the thought (also hilariously censored by rainbows), with Roland yelling at them not to throw up in his office.
  • When Roland decides to hire Kyle as Bordertown's premier alchemist, he snaps his fingers. To Kyle's surprise, Barov suddenly appears with an ink bottle and contract for him to sign.
  • Maggie’s first appearance. She flies in while in her plump bird form, then Ashes asks if she’s hungry before dropping some bird seed for her. Maggie happily eats them, then suddenly stops and angrily pecks at Ashes’s head, indignantly saying she’s not a bird.
  • Roland uses the microscope to reveal the existence of microorganisms after examining a drop of water. The other witches began to freak out when made to realize drinking water as is also meant eating said microorganisms. At that time, Nightingale, who was drinking said water from the bucket, overheard what was said, causing her cheeks to bulge out. She immediately does a Spit Take.
  • The adult witches get a certain gift from Roland: a bra. They were initially confused as to what it was until they saw the enclosed note describing what it is used for. Wendy and Nightingale get incredibly flustered after reading the note while the younger ones immediately realized why they weren’t given the same gift.
  • When Roland equips the witches assigned for the reconnaissance with revolvers, cue most of them firing badly while screaming. Roland's thousand yard stare makes it clear he has a lot of work ahead of him.
  • When Tilly's group were fighting a sea monster en route to Border Town, Andrea jumps up and one-shots the giant monster with her point-blank magic bow shot. The monster is killed and the threat neutralized. However, Andrea splashes into the ocean and screams for help as she can't swim. An annoyed Ashes jumps into the sea to fish her out.
  • Andrea gets her pride broken when the Bordertown defense team managed to kill a giant demonic beast with an upgraded cannon, denying her a chance to show off.
  • Like Nightingale before her, Andrea gets a foodgasm from trying out the culinary delicacies of Bordertown.
  • When searching for the underground giant demon worm that swallowed up the ancient stone tower, Anna was asked to kill it from a distance. She manages to user her powers to fire off what can be described as a laser cutter, using a concentrated beam to completely dice up the giant worm's body. The other witches with her had the most shocked expression on their faces, unable to believe Anna had such power.
  • Agatha tries to enforce her knowledge superiority by lecturing to Roland about the three states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) and that there’re different gasses all around them. Roland nonchalantly tells her to go on as if saying, "yeah, and?”, which shocks her from his reaction. She asks why Roland isn’t surprised at this revelation, to which he explained that that sort of thing is already common knowledge anyway and even adds in other facts she wasn't aware of, making Agatha get indignant.
  • The open lesson by Kyle Sichi and Roland explaining the process of separating gases in the air. The only ones who understood anything were Anna, Tilly, and Agatha. Everyone else didn’t have the slightest clue what was being discussed. Iron Axe in particular pretends to understand the lecture but admits to not knowing a thing of what they were talking about, albeit a bit too proudly.
  • One exam period has Andrea confident about passing it no problem since she was once in a noble family and had prior education. She finishes the written part no problem, but when she gets to the math and science aspect, she trembles as she couldn't understand a single question. Andrea gets shocked to see some of the Witch students were working on figuring out the answers to the questions, while Nightingale and Ashes were completely at a loss (Ashes in particular had a thousand yard stare as she looked at her exam). The combat-superior Witches were defeated by a written academic test.
  • During a chat with Roland, Tilly makes a comment wondering how powerful Roland would be as a witch after evolving, complete with an Imagine Spot of a female version of Roland. Roland quickly swats away the image, saying although he would like to experience having extraordinary powers himself, he’s not willing to if it meant having his sex changed (he happens to like being a man, thank you very much!).
  • After managing to kill some demons, Maggie and Lightning brought the corpses back to the castle so Roland and Agatha could study the remains on how they function. Ashes casually rips apart the limbs during the autopsy, much to the disgust of anyone watching.
  • Roland, at Nightingale's insistence, gives Lightning a Cool and Unusual Punishment for leaving her post as a guard for Roland just to get in on the detective work going on, which put him at risk as he barely managed to avoid an assassin's attempt on his life. In the end, Roland subjects Lightning to three times the amount of schoolwork she has to do in class, which completely horrifies her. Lightning winds up dragged out of the room in a broken state of mind, mumbling in despair how she'll never know happiness again.
