Today, Sigfried was the hero who had saved campus from a flying, flaming skunk. No one was ever going to find out anything else from her. - Nastasia's obstructionism to excluding people from their cabal stemming from the belief that they are talking about forming a social club.
- After Sigfried goes off on a particularly zany tangent:Rachel wondered briefly if the benefits to having perfect recall were outweighed by having to always remember Sigfried's inane conversations with his dragon.
- After Sigfried suffers a Cuteness Overload from watching the girls dance a jig and starts thumping his head against the wall:Lucky: "Boss, what are you doing? Stop! You don't damage your already fragile brains when desirable females are around! You bite them on the neck and drag them to your lava nest to join the harem! Boss? Can you hear me? Stop that!"
- In book 3, Rachel point-blank asks von Dread if he's evil, since her "detect evil" powers aren't picking anything up on him. He launches into a speech about how, yes, he is, because Love Makes You Evil, and asks Rachel if she agrees. Rachel immediately says no....which throws him for an loop.

- Although it becomes rather heartbreaking later, Nastasia's ultra-polite lack of emotion while turning down Wulfgang Starkadder's attempt to get to know her is pretty funny as his absolute bewilderment mounts.
