Despite being a tense thriller, Observation isn't above occasional moments of humour.
- When resetting the coolant systems, you can come across a message from Josh to Emma where he invites her to a dinner in EAS-12, saying that he'd settle for cuddling in her living quarters, but "the woman who sleep across is glaring at us". In a different laptop, you can also find a message from Mae to Jim asking to let her sleep in the Chinese arm, because as is, she gets the front-row view of Josh and Emma getting cozy with each other.
- While other crew members have their family or their holiday photos in their sections, Staz hung up cat pictures.
- Emma dissing on the space leap sequence from 2001.
- A rather dark sort of humor, but while exploring the alternate station, SAM may come across the body of alternate Emma.note Using the response mode on it prompts him to say "Emma, you have suffered fatal injuries. My condolences."
