Although the film is Darker and Edgier compared to the original and its sequel, it's not without a humorous moment here and there.

- On the way to the Matchmaker, Mulan jokes with Xiu that her makeup makes it hard to determine her facial expressions. This also doubles as a Take That! to the criticisms of Liu Yifei's casting, in that they said she was incapable of making facial expressions.Mulan: I'm starving.Li: I already told you, you cannot eat. It will ruin your makeup.Mulan: The fiercest winter storm could not destroy this makeup.
- While Mulan tries to sleep, another sleeping soldier almost rolls onto her, but she pushes him off. He then rolls his arm onto the soldier next to him, who then appears to cuddle with the arm.
- The same soldier does this again the other night, only this time Mulan knocks him off the bed; however the soldier whom he cuddled last night turns around and warmly holds her hand, implying he'd formed a relationship with that guy.
- Before the battle with the Rourans, Mulan assures her allies by telling them that they will all protect each other, fight for each other, and see each other survive.Mulan: Except for you, Yao. I might take the opportunity to kill you myself.(Cricket, Po, Ling, Honghui, and Yao all laugh)
- At the end when Tung shows up to Mulan's village to announce her heroics to everyone, the Matchmaker faints from shock.
