This feeding machine will be an efficient way to feed your workers.
This may be Charlie Chaplin's final role as The Tramp, but he really gave it his all considering the page length.
  • The Tramp being unable to stop the jerky, rhythmic movements of his hands, after being used to so much nut-tightening.
  • The demonstration of the automatic feeding machine as it repeatedly assaults, drenches, and force-feeds the Tramp.
  • The iconic scene where the Tramp's body snakes its way through the gears after he gets sucked into the machine.
  • The climax of the opening factory section, where Charlie snaps on the factory floor and dances around as a loony ballet dancer with an oil can throwing the whole place into utter chaos.
  • The Tramp being mistaken as a communist agitator. He picks up a red flag that fell off of a truck, and then shouts and waves it with the intent to return it, when suddenly a group of protesting workers march up behind him, making it appear as if he is the leader of a communist rally. Police Brutality ensues.
  • The Tramp roller-skating in a department store and nearly skating over the edge of the balcony onto the floor below.
    • He also did this blindfolded, and somehow, he didn't fall off the floor's balcony.
  • The scene with the run-down shack, and the gamine calling it Paradise when really it's anything but.
    • A beam falls on the Tramp's head when he shuts the door behind him. Later, he takes a look at it when entering the shack before closing the door, thinks it's fastened securely enough, shuts the door, and gets hit again.
    • A table collapses when he leans on it.
    • He falls into the lake behind the shack when he leans on the back door.
    • The next day, Tramp tried dive into the lake, only to find out the water level wasn't high enough.
    • He and the gamine later sit down over a meal after she had somehow managed to find them a large ham and a loaf of bread to eat, only for his chair to fall down through the cracks in the floor when he tries to sit on it.
  • The oil can and the mechanic's coat being pressed flat. The was even a pocket watch in the coat pocket at the time which also got flattened.
  • When the mechanic's tool box gets crushed between two large rotating gears, it spits out tools like it was suffering from indigestion.
  • While the Tramp's boss is stuck in the machine and since the factory is shut down during lunch break and he can't run the machine backwards to get his boss unstuck during that time, the Tramp tries to feed his half-swallowed boss his lunch at his request. The key word being "trying", as he mostly manages to make a huge mess and his attempts to give him coffee involve pouring it through an oil funnel and the roast duck that's the boss' dinner.
  • The Tramp's "singing waiter" number.
