• From the first episode, we have Jimmy's hilariously blunt statement on the bus:

  Jimmy: I'm not going to be with my parents... there's no adults... and I think I'm going to die out here, 'cause there's nothing.

• From the second episode: Jared, holding up a decapitated chicken, says this to the camera with a wide smile:

  Jared: We sped up the natural cycle of life and death! We gave these two suckers a shortcut!

• The readings from the town book are darkly funny, because they are presented as the work a 19th century pioneer leaving the town giving advice to people who will recolonize it. Except, you know, his generation ran the town into the ground. And it's obvious that it's actually the method the producers introduce conflict to show. Rather than give concrete advice, it always presents open ended questions that are meant to expose the group's differences.
