Funny / In Stars And Time

Go To

Despite the darker moments of the game, In Stars and Time still has plenty of funny moments.

  • In The House, you can find someone cooking crab, which prompts Isabeau, Bonnie and Mirabelle to freak out and react as though it was blasphemous to do so. Odile is just as utterly confused as Sif is, and attempts to explain don't help.
    Odile: I don't understand anything.
  • The first way in which you die? Getting crushed by a boulder trap right after being sure that there are no traps. Siffrin will lament about how dumb it was.
    • If the player has poor memory or gets distracted, they can still wind up accidentally getting crushed by it again, with both Sif and the player likely kicking themselves about forgetting it.
    • The kicker is that way later, you find a room where the boulders are kept, and apparently the traps only activate after you feel safe.
  • The team's responses to Sif's puns, helped along by Isabeau loving puns and teaming up with Sif to deliver especially bad ones.
  • You can die in the village by slipping on a banana peel, and after a while, Siffrin will start complaining that there's not a more dignified way to die in the village.
    • Darkly humorous is that later in the game, the death text will say "you are a living comedy sketch".
  • Siffrin once tricked Bonnie into drinking water they thought was vodka.
  • Upon going into a necessary room on Floor 2, Siffrin bangs their hip into a counter and lets out an embarrassing "NYA" in pain, something that the party ribs him over. Siffrin then keeps banging his hip into the same counter every time they have to go grab the key from the room, causing Siffrin to develop enmity with a kitchen counter.
  • At the start of the first battle with the King, when he tells the entire team that he is "a merciful King" and that he will give them "an everlasting rest", when Siffrin's turn comes up first, what battle start message does he get?
  • When you reach The End, Isa will try to confess his feelings to you, but will get interrupted every time. After you make sure there's no interruptions, he'll then chicken out anyway.
  • When Siffrin and Mirabelle encounter the Change God, the latter starts talking in childish small letters, weird letters and numbers for words, and text faces (with most of the latter of which not working properly in the Switch version, though). Hilarious.
  • In the final Act, Isabeau finally confesses to Siffrin. Talking to him afterwards will reveal that everyone else was listening, but politely chose not to interrupt because in Bonnie’s words, they were raised with manners and would NEVER interrupt. Siffrin wastes little time telling them that, no, they interrupted every single other time, which Odile finds pretty funny.
Isabeau: Past yous are all terrible wingmen?!? What the crab?!?
  • Siffrin uses his conversation with Isabeau in Act 6 to apologise for kissing Isabeau without permission in a previous loop. Isabeau’s character art completely freezes and it takes Siffrin a moment to realise the strange, high-pitched and distressed whining he’s suddenly hearing is Isabeau’s despaired reaction to being told his crush kissed him in a loop he will never remember anything about.
  • In the library, Bonnie will theorize that when people kiss in plays, they don't REALLY kiss, they have transparent paper between their mouths so they don't actually kiss, because no one would kiss in front of everyone.
  • Odile's reactions to Siffrin and Isabeau's romantic subplot are gold as she gets increasingly exasperated with their flirting, Siffrin's obliviousness and Isa's inability to express his feelings.
  • When you do Mirabelle's quest, she'll get startled by your ability to know about the papers and put her hand on her sword, complete with the battle music playing.
  • Odile's increasing exasperation at searching for the book she wants in her hangout, only for it to turn out that it was right at the start.
  • The game's utter confusion when you first die by eating pineapple slices, until after looping back, Sif is completely flabbergasted that Loop was correct about being allergic to pineapples, only to comment a second later that they were still very good. Spicy.
    • The achievement you get for eating pineapple slices is pretty ironic in itself, which pops up moments before you drop down dead:
  • Despite this happening on an extremely dark moment of the game, there's something darkly amusing of Sif just destroying the counter that he constantly bumped himself on.
