- Dan Levy as John delivers some hilarious scenes in this movie:John: I am loving these fish! If I wanted to buy the exact same one for myself, where do you think I would do that?
[scoops out dead fish and flushes it down the toilet]
Abby: What?
John: You know what, I think I should Google it. I'm gonna Google it, thanks.John: Did you know you're standing in a country club that didn't let women have their own memberships until the early 2000s?
Abby: How do you know that?
John: Uh, I might be tracking you, but it's for your own safety. Clearly!- When he calls Abby and she asks if he needed something, or was just calling her to shame her, he replies, "I'm not shaming you. I just think that the choice you're making is dumb and you should feel bad about it, and yourself."
- Tipper admitting that the reason she and her husband expect less from Jane compared to their other two daughters: "We gave up on her when she wouldn't stop biting in preschool!" It's a real Black Comedy moment given that Jane is clearly The Unfavorite and put-upon middle child, but at the same time, it still manages to be genuinely funny — and even fairly sweet — given the context of the Caldwells finally realising that they were horrible parents and that thanks to their negligence Jane is actually a much healthier and more accomplished person than her sisters.
