• Expecting to find Stanislaus Oates in his flat to consult and meet with his client (Val Gyrthe), Mr. Campion is suprised to find Ernie Walker there instead, and there is this marvelous exchange:
  Val Gyrthe: (disbelievingly) This is a senior police detective?
  Mr. Campion: No. Mr. Walker is a criminal currently between sentences.
