  • Mira and Ao end up having to study for a make-up test at the start of Episode 3. While Mira's simply Book Dumb, it turns out that Ao was too carried away from the previous night's stargazing, and accidentally wrote her name as "Manaka Antares" on her test and got a zero for that, even though she had almost perfect scores on the parts of her test that are shown.
  • During the Beach Episode, Suzu and Ao momentarily suspect that the seemingly ditzy Mai foresaw their competition over who was a better friend to Mira ending with them going after Mira when she fell off the boat. A moment later, Mai gets distracted by a stratum, and the two girls realize that she probably wasn't smart enough to think that far ahead.
  • In the eighth episode, Mai tries her hand on the Earth Science Olympiad. Because she pretty much joined it on a whim and only studied it for a short time, she was caught off-guard on a geology question, which requires choosing two options out of five. Since Japanese mark sheets usually name their options after the vowels. Mai decided to answer A-O after her underclassman Ao. Cue Ao's Sneeze Cut.
  • In Chapter 27 of the manga, after Misa says that Ao should throw a tantrum in front of her parents to change their minds about moving, the viewer gets treated to an image of Ao doing just that.
    • The same image appears again in the next chapter in Ao's Imagine Spot, as she is reminded of what Misa and Mikage said in the previous scene as she starts telling Shiori that she does not want to move.
  • In Episode 9, Suzu gets very excited as she eagerly gives Mikage a rapid-fire lecture about how to make chocolate. Mikage wonders if that's how she comes across when talking about rocks.
  • In Chapter 31 (animated as part of episode 9), Mira and Ao had a minor quarrel because Mira unpacked Ao's moving boxes without permission. The funny part is how the other Konohatas see it: seeing them as astronomy enthusiasts, they think the two teens are arguing about the origins of the moon. They even mapped out which theory each of the two girls belongs to!
  • In Chapter 35 (animated as part of Episode 11), Ao realizes that some attendees at the Shining Star Challenge, from the idol-loving Asuka to Shiho, who "like(s) people," are a colorful bunch, who "make Mira seem normal."
