  • If the narrator of "The Loved Dead" was born in the late 19th century, then his great-great granduncle who was burned at the stake for necromancy was born around the late 18th century. Because burning at the stake was never practiced in the United States of America, this implies a fairly recent foreign origin for at least one of his lineages; probably Iberian Hispanic (Spain or Portugal), as both Inquisition and autos-de-fe persisted there until the early 19th century.
