The Great Oppressor timeline is framed by the narrative as a triumphant Earn Your Happy Ending in the face of the previous time loop, with humanity saved and the evil aliens defeated. However, the identical game layout up to the ending means that this timeline's version of Renji died unwillingly fighting for a force of ultimate evil. Either the true, final versions of Mido and Dori walked away from the battle with a lot more baggage than the ending wants you to consider, or, even worse, the characters being flattened out means that Oppressor!Renji is someone whose death won't be mourned.
