  • This movie actually explains Hades' evil portrayal in the previous film rather well. We already know from the first film that Hades was tricked by Zeus to rule the Underworld (right after his creation defeated the original Titans, to add insult to the injury), and that he had to feed on humanity's fear of him while the other gods basked in their love. However, in this film we also know gods, even fallen ones, have to be close to the sky (Agenor mentions it as they look for Hephaestus; and indeed he lives in a mountain cave), and according to Hephaestus Hades was originally the reasonable one and Zeus was a total prick, implying Hades was cast out unfairly much like himself. So, after winnig the war for the gods, Hades was tricked to endure centuries living the farthest away from his natural place, surviving on nothing but humanity's fear of him, most likely as punishment for opposing Zeus on some matter, while his tormentor lives in the sky and feasts on humanity's love? No wonder he decided to go bad.
  • Ares, the God of War, loses against Perseus, a Mortal Demigod, how? Because he brought Helius to watch the fight, Perseus mentions earlier that what kept him going throughout the movie was coming home to his son, Gods subsist on worship and love from the humans, it's very clear form the beginning that Helius idolises his father Perseus, whereas Ares has few worshipers left due to the twilight of the Gods, so while he is still much more powerful than a mortal, he isn't working at 100% power, whereas he brought Perseus' most devoted worshiper into close proximity, while it wasn't a lot, combined with a childs love for a parent, it was probably giving Perseus a bit of a boost, combined with Pereus and Helius, showing unconditional love towards each other, something Ares, in his mind, has none of, made him sloppy, he clearly has a look of envy in his eyes during the fight.
