In Coteries, Thomas Arturo offers to blood bond the Fledgling, with the strong implication that the Fledgling will be killed if they refused. In Shadows it's stated that the Fledgling disappeared when Sophie did. You can come up with either Fridge Horror or Fridge Brilliance depending on how you look at it:
Fridge Horror: The Fledgling is blood bound... but disappeared anyway? What the hell is Arturo doing with them that they're missing? Are they locked in a basement somewhere?
Even worse it's possible they're the ones hunting their old coterie.
Fridge Brilliance: Alternatively, they could be missing because the Fledgling refused.
Of course Julia has no objection to turning over Dakota to the Sheriff in the "Good Ending." They just broke up!.
It's very likely that Dakota was "gifted" to Julia and made sure not to be a ghoul because Thomas Arturo and Caren expected to use her as blackmail material.
