Fridge / The Vigilante Boss and His Failed Retirement Plan

Go To

Fridge Brilliance

  • After Giotto founded his vigilante group in order to protect the people, each generation of the Vongola Famiglia has donned formal attire when risking their lives to fulfill this duty. Which is basically one and the same as Pro Heroes' jobs. This explains Izuku's insistence to model his hero costume after formal attire, despite finding it impractical to fight in.

Fridge Horror

  • Mei created contact lenses that give telescopic vision so she can pass for having a Quirk. This could be a game-changing invention with uses for reading, mechanical work, sciences, and espionage, but Mei can never go public with her contact lenses, as they would reveal that she's actually Quirkless and thus open her up to vicious anti-Quirkless discrimination. Mei invented something that could improve the quality of life of the average person with many applications, but she can't forward it without ruining her life.
  • Mei and Senkuu are highly intelligent people who fake having Quirks to escape discrimination. They are probably not the only ones. Which also has the implication that Quirk discrimination happens in the intellectual fields where Quirks technically shouldn't matter. How many Quirkless intellectuals were disregarded or ostracized because they didn't pretend to have a Quirk?
  • Hawks theorizes that since vulnerable children with hero-grade Quirks that can be molded to their bidding like him are rare, the Hero Commission Committee is also behind Endeavor's Quirk marriage to produce another suitable child, i.e. Shouto. Which means an organization that supervises pro-heroes isn't above committing eugenics experiments on them.
  • It doesn't help that the Committee is also after Izuku, making it quite clear they intend to repeat what they did to Hawks. Izuku is just lucky he got a better offer from UA along with Nezu's protection.
