* We all know that ''Majora's Mask'' was set in a sort of parallel world to the Hyrule we knew of in ''Ocarina of Time'', which is why there are tons of characters in Termina who look exactly like the people in Hyrule (never mind the ones with slight changes, like Ruto/Lulu or the Gerudo bandits/pirates, because they're still generally the same thing). Some characters, however, are either portrayed as [[HeelFaceTurn the polar opposite of what they were in Ocarina]] (such as Twinrova) or had whatever habit they're known for bumped up several notches when compared to their role in Hyrule (such as Sakon, who was a petty thief NPC in Hyrule, but is now [[TookALevelInBadass a badass thief who is not only partially responsible for screwing over people like bomb granny and Kafei]], but also serves as one of the extremely rare examples where [[KickTheSonOfABitch Link can kill a person who was not intended to be a mook]]). Of all the characters seen in the game, the only ones that remain the same in Termina as they did in Hyrule are the Skull Kid (that is more evident in the manga than the game, to be honest) and ''The Happy Mask Salesman''. As the point above said, the Happy Mask Salesman lives on the fact he sells masks (fake faces), and nearly everything and everyone you encounter otherwise either act completely different from what they were before or ''look'' different than they were (even if it's something as simple as new clothes, new haircuts, or a [[PaletteSwap new style/color]]. Suppose Termina had served even more as a look into the mind of the Happy Mask Salesman (where everyone either showed their true faces or took on a much different look/persona under a "mask") than simply a neighboring kingdom that had secretly and mysteriously held people who look like resident Hylians?

A person you thought had died magically shows up and helps you, but then suddenly disappears never to been seen again. It will be really tough on Lulu as she'll never see her love again.

* It may seem unrealistic that the Deku Palace guards would grant Link entry so many times, regardless of how often you’re caught in places you’re not supposed to be. However, Link is technically inhabiting the form of the son of the Deku royal family’s butler, and it’s not out of the question that he’d have been to the palace before. It’s not that silly for the guards to be giving him some special treatment.

* A much simpler reasoning that the Happy Mask Salesman and the Skull Kid act the same is that they ''are'' the same characters from Hyrule. The Skull Kid is heavily implied by the ending to be the same one as in the Lost Woods, to the left of the entrance.

Removed inaccurate information; bosses can be refought as long as Link holds that boss's remains.

** Also, since the bosses can only be fought on a loop where you've already confronted Majora, Link may be electing to use it on them to drastically speed up the fight, reversing the curses that plague Termina's four regions in the process, in order to bring about the closest thing the story has to a GoldenEnding.

** It's not Link having the lullaby that gets him into Snowhead, as the Elder implies that Darmani is familiar with it since it was played to help him sleep, too. Go to Snowhead without the Lens of Truth equipped-- you can't see Biggoron without it. Darmani couldn't see Biggoron either, and would never have thought to use the Goron's Lullaby.

* One odd thing to note in Majora's Mask is how Ikana Valley lacks a transformation mask associated with it, even though we face the prerequisite of using the Song of Healing to fix Pamela's Father. We get the Gibdo Mask from the situation, but we don't transform into one. This is probably for several reasons.
** Becoming a Gibdo might be a boring situation: you'd only move slowly and be unable to do much in attacking outside of a shriek and face-hugging foes.
** Pamela's Father was in the process of turning into one, but was never fully one in the first place. Nor was he dead or close to dying, both of which are factors in the previous transformation masks.
** Although while the Gibdo Mask doesn't grant a transformation, it still fools other Gibdos into thinking you are one of them. Just like Pamela's father was in the process of becoming one and feels like one of them to other Gibdos, so too does the mask grant the appearance, if not the abilities of a Gibdo to the wearer.

** The Fierce Deity's Mask and it's level of power also makes sense if you consider the potential implications that it doesn't just contain Termina's hope, but also it's ''despair''. Afterall, the Moon is crashing down on the land, ready to turn it all into a smoking crater. Though you may have helped so many people, it will not avert their sorrow or despair at the fact that they will lose it all within a few more minutes. [[BadPowersGoodPeople In such a case however, what better power source for the hero than to utilize a nation's worth of despair as power to annihilate what causes it to lose hope in the first place?]] Being the HopeBringer got you the mask, but it's power to utilize Termina's despair is what makes it so powerful in the first place! Which also makes sense for why it can only be used in boss rooms as well.

* Stone Tower Temple is well known for it's themes of both reaching up to the heavens and of inversion. Several popular theories posit that it was basically the Terminian form of the Tower of Babel, given the depictions of the Triforce on the butts of those stone cubes that serve as a walkway into the place, the phallic imagery of the towers around it and firey fingers pointing upwards. Yet when you hit the gem with the Light Arrows, the temple becomes inverted. Instead of falling into the abyss, you fall into the ''sky''. The supposed way into "heaven" instead becomes a gateway to Hell, where Twinmold resides. But that's not the end of the inversion motifs: throughout the whole game, you were a mere human trying to save the Four Giants from the monsters they've become or were sealed by. In the Inverted Stone Tower Temple, you can find the Giant's Mask, allowing you to become the Giant to destroy the monsters and save people, inverting the original situation Link had as a human!

* When Link rewinds time, he loses his money, ammo, potions, and some quest-related items. He doesn't lose the Bow, the Bombs, the Hookshot, the Lens of Truth, the Picture Box and his masks, when he totally should. But if you remember what Zelda tells Link in the Song of Time flashback, she says "Use this song to call upon the Goddess of Time. If you're in trouble, she will help you." She does. Money and ammo can be farmed, and the quest items really don't have any other use than on the quest they are for (the Deeds and Anju's Letter). What stays in Link's Inventory are items critical to ''his'' quest, not for others'.

The whole part about the Zora's Sapphire and the HMS is wrong, as his shop opens after giving the Kakariko guard Zelda's Letter.

* Why does the Happy Mask Salesman not seem to remember Link from their encounter in Ocarina of Time, introducing himself to him in this game? Because they had never met in the Child Timeline! As seen in the previous game's ending, Link was sent to a point in the past shortly before he first met Zelda. In ''Ocarina'', you don't get to meet the HMS until after collecting the Zora Sapphire (which is when his shop opens), which doesn't happen until well after Link and Zelda meet.
** This is backed by the fact that the Skull Kid seems to be the same one Link taught Saria's song (as he claims that Link smells like "that fairy kid who taught (him) that song in the woods"). In ''Ocarina'', this same Skull Kid is sold the Skull Mask in the HMS's sidequest, but as Link hadn't yet met the HMS at that point in the Child Timeline, Skull Kid doesn't have the mask. Perhaps having that harmless skull mask could have prevented him from taking Majora's (who knows, maybe it ''did'')...but then, Ganondorf would have taken over Hyrule.

** It is said that the Fierce Deity's Mask represents not just the whole of Termina's sorrows and pains. But is also a representation of their feelings in general. Considering the amount of people Link would have to help to get every mask possible to obtain it. It wouldn't seem much of a stretch that these feelings are positive feelings as well as negative ones. Trust, Joy and extreme faith to the young man who did everything he could to help the people of Termina in times of great despair. In a way. Fierce Deity's mask looks the way it does. Because all of Termina's feelings have become synonomous with the young boy in green, empowering this image.

Encyclopedia never says such a thing, or that they were from Termina. And that certainly doesn't explain all the OTHER holes, like how people like Anju and Mutoh are copies of Hyruleans Skullkid never knew about, or Link's bow he got in Termina still exists decades later in Twilight Princess.

* One about the Hyrule Encyclopedia's theory that Termina was a false world created by the Skull Kid with Majora's Mask. A lot of people say that this is disproved by Tatl's flashbacks showing that Skull Kid was in Termina before he ever got the mask. But if Tatl and Tael are ''from'' Termina, they could just as well have FakeMemories of having been friends with Skull Kid before.
