  • The completely fictional tale Tristan (in the Greek merchant's guise) tells Count Ludovico about Teodoro's life includes Teodoro sleeping with his adopted sister and then running away and leaving her pregnant, which causes his adopted father's Death by Despair. Later, though, the count never brings it up when talking to Teodoro. All right, he is too happy to scold the latter for anything, but why doesn't he even inquire about his supposed grandson? However, it all makes sense when one realizes in that era's mindset, the child would be a bastard and wouldn't inherit anyway, so Ludovico is perfectly happy to know that the baby is allegedly raised with "the Greek merchant"'s family and won't be around to cause problems for Teodoro's reputation.
