In Elvin's first episode, he tells Cliff he knows how to cook. In his next episode, his cake is a spectacular failure. This means one of two things: He either didn't have a lot of hands-on experience with actually making food or he knew how to cook but didn't know how to bake.
Fridge Horror
In "Off To See The Wretched", among the many calamities that befall Vanessa and her friends is having their car stolen. And it wasn't even their car, it belonged to the brother of one of them. It's safe to assume that friend got chewed out even worse than Vanessa did.
Fridge Logic
In "The Younger Woman", Clair is shocked at how much younger their widowed friend's new girlfriend is. Really? She's a lawyer and her husband is a doctor. This is first time she's seen anyone in their social circle with a younger wife/girlfriend?
We never see Vanessa's friends again after "Off To See The Wretched". Given their egregious behavior, it's likely that all four sets of parents forbade them from seeing each other ever again.
