Why can't Dr. Pierce just open the door to our testing chamber and shake us awake?
Aside from the fact that the Somnasculpt technology is implied to manually prevent such stimuli from waking up the subject, the game ultimately reveals that he doesn't need to, because nothing has gone wrong; the test proceeds exactly as intended, since its real intention was to force the player to consider problems in new ways in order to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles.
Quick question about the ending: even if the subject was never in any danger, isn't "Doctor" Pierce's treatment highly unethical due to withholding information from them?
