While the episode never directly addresses it, Data reverts to his old love of Sherlock Holmes in the future. Picard visits him in his quaint, English apartment where he's tended to by a spirited old Englishwoman. After hearing Picard's story, Data announces that he's going to get to the bottom of the mystery. Geordi, who always plays Watson, observes it all, and Geordi has become a novelist in his spare time just like Watson. In the end, Data is the one who solves the mystery and gives The Summation.
