  • Leighton says "There were only eight or nine of us who actually saw Kodos", but there's a photograph of Kodos in the library computer which Kirk retrieves with the command "photograph, Kodos".
    • Word of God has explained that the eight or nine were the people who actually saw him give the order, not the only people alive who'd ever seen his face.
  • Spock says "My father's race was spared the dubious benefits of alcohol", to which McCoy says, "Now I know why they were conquered", but in "The Immunity Syndrome" Spock says "Vulcan has not been conquered within its collective memory. The memory goes so far back that no Vulcan can conceive of a conqueror."
    • This would seem to be your basic Series Continuity Error, which were fairly common at this point in the series because a lot of the universe backstory was still a work in progress.
    • Or just Bones being his usual snarky self.
    • Or Bones was gloating about the Earth Is the Center of the Universe and Humans Are Special tendencies that pervaded the Federation and Starfleet?
    • Or maybe Bones is just drunk.
    • Fan Wank: Bones has heard the "Vulcan has never ever been conquered" spiel from Spock at least once or twice, and thinks it's funny to make insulting yet completely false statements completely offhandedly, trying to bait Spock into snapping at him for being wrong. Spock won this round by not dignifying it with a response.
    • Or was he taking a shot at how the Vulcans "conquered" themselves with logic?
