The first trilogy sets up a few interesting things when you take into account that this is a prequel to Disney's Peter Pan:
The second cohort of Lost Boys are presumably the ones from the Disney movie. Wendy's line about how they weren't ready to grow up makes extra sense when you consider that they were revealed to have been child slaves. No wonder they weren't ready to grow up yet!
At the end of the Disney movie, the Darlings react in surprise when they see the ship in the clouds - they've both seen it before!
